Business Report 5/9/16: Migration between states

Illustrated Economics - Migration between states

The Washington Post published a nice map showing which states gained or lost population in the 12 months leading up to last summer.
Illinois lost more than 100,000 residents in 12 months.
Florida gained 200,000 residents.
Generally, people moved to the Pacific Northwest and the Southeast.
They moved out of the Northeast and the Rust Belt.
Another way to describe it is by describing jobs.
States with lots of factories lost population.
States with good weather or good jobs gained.
