HANA, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Flood Advisory has been issued for East Maui as heavy rain continues to fall in that part of the island, the National Weather Service said.
The advisory is in effect until 2:45 p.m. Monday.
Locations in the advisory include, but are not limited to Nahiku, Haiku-Pauwela, Huelo and Hana.
At around 11:35 a.m., radar showed continued light to moderate rainfall in East Maui. Forecasters said the heaviest showers were producing rain rates around 1 inch per hour.
Forecasters advise staying away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding.
This advisory could be extended if heavy rain persists.
