WAHIAWA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

No one was hurt Saturday after a fire destroyed a home in Wahiawa Saturday afternoon.

The Honolulu Fire Department said the blaze was reported shortly before 4 p.m. at a home on Olive Avenue. The fire was brought under control at 4:16 p.m.

Authorities said a man was in the one-story, single-family home at the time of the fire, but he smelled the smoke and escaped without injury.

The damage is estimated at $173,000 to the structure, $15,000 to its contents and $10,650 to nearby properties and cars. The cause remains under investigation.

The American Red Cross was called to assist the five occupants displaced by the fire.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help raise money for new clothes, hygiene products and a deposit for a new home. If you would like to donate click here.
