KALIHI (HawaiiNewsNow) - The City and County of Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation has reported that a sink in the men's comfort station at Fern Community Park in Kalihi was vandalized between the hours of 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Fern Community Park personnel were alerted to the vandalism by a resident who entered the comfort station and witnessed the damage.
The Department of Parks and Recreation confirmed that the vandalism had occurred and notified the Honolulu Police Department. The sink was broken from its foundation and shattered into pieces, leaving all pipes and plumbing exposed. The men's comfort station has been closed and a police report was filed.
The vandalism is the most recent in a string of similar attacks to city park facilities, with previous incidents at Kaiaka Bay Beach Park and Ala Moana Regional Park earlier this year.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Honolulu Police Department.
