KANEOHE, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Four members of a family were injured, one seriously, when a car rammed into a Kaneohe restaurant Friday night.
The incident happened shortly after 8 p.m. at Liang's Kitchen on Lilipuna Road just off Kamehameha Highway.
Authorities said a family of six was eating inside when a vehicle that was parked in front of the restaurant plowed through the front entrance and through the restaurant before coming to rest at the counter and nearly hitting the cashier.
The restaurant was a shambles, with broken glass everywhere and toppled tables. Two tire tracks could be seen on the floor.
A 37-year-old man was taken to Castle Medical Center in serious condition. A 43-year-old woman, and two small girls -- aged 2 and 9 -- were taken to the hospital in stable condition.
Another customer who had just left the restaurant rushed back when she heard the crash.
"A vehicle in Liang's Kitchen -- it would've taken me and my family down. There's no way we could've escaped. We could not have run or anything," Cheryl Galdeira said.
Authorities said the car was driven by a woman in her 70s. She and a male passenger, also in his 70s, refused treatment at the scene.
