Rainbow Wahine open final homestand with victory over Cal Poly

Hawai'i (22-27, 6-10 Big West) strung together four hits and an error to tally three runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Cal Poly (23-22, 6-10 BWC), 3-2.

UH rally to load the bases with two outs and Nicole Lopez came through in the clutch hit to left. On the play Tayana Mata scored from third, but the leftfielder bobbled the ball allowing Jennifer Iseri to score from second to tie the game at 2-2. Keiki Carlos was then intentionally walked to load the bases again and then Heather Morales then drove in the winning run (Sarah Muzik) on a walkoff hit to leftfield for the 3-2 win.

Brittany Hitchcock earned the complete game win, allowing two runs on seven hits with no walks and five strike outs. She improves to 11-14 on the season.

The Mustangs' Sierra Hyland suffered the loss, dropping her record to 12-6 overall. She allowed three runs nine hits with a walk and 13 strike outs.

The two teams will square off in a Senior Day doubleheader on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. It will be the final home games for five Rainbow Wahine seniors--Keiki Carlos, Tayana Mata, Sarah McAndrew, Dori Ann Sugai, and Kiani Wong.

    An eviction gone wrong on the Big Island ended with after a lengthy standoff and the arrest of two people Monday evening.  According to police, the landlord of a home in the Hawi area of North Kohala attempted to evict a couple from the home around 9:45 a.m. During the eviction, the couple, identified as 27-year-old Lucas Wolf and 28-year-old Britney Wolf, showed resistance and acted aggressively, police said.  Britney then allegedly fired a single shot and...
