HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Keiki Carlos and Tayana Mata know how much different senior day celebrations are in Manoa.
"We were talking about how we just saw the [U.C.] Santa Barbara senior day, and it made us appreciate what we have here so much more," said Carlos. "So it's a huge deal and celebration. It's always special."
Seniors Carlos, Mata, Sarah McAndrew, Dori Ann Sugai and Kiani Wong will play for final time at the Rainbow Wahine softball stadium this weekend in a three-game series against Cal Poly.
Though the 'Bows are just a game back of the Mustangs in the conference standings, Mata and her teammates acknowledge they'll have to fight through emotion once play opens on Friday afternoon.
"Bittersweet. Like... Yes, I'm done with softball, but... Crap. I'm done with softball," said Mata. "Don't know what I'm gonna do after, but... Yeah, I'm excited, but also sad."
First pitch against Cal Poly is set for 6 p.m. on Friday, with senior festivities set to take place during the doubleheader on Saturday.
