HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for parts of Oahu until 10:45 p.m. due to some briefly heavy showers around the island.
Forecasters said at 7:41 p.m., radar indicated showers scattered throughout Oahu, including the windward side between Kahuku and Olomana, and in the Waipahu area. These showers are expected to gradually dissipate in the next couple of hours.
Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Schofield Barracks, Makakilo, Waikane, Waipahu and Waianae.
Persons in the advisory areas should stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall in runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to roadway ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking.
The advisory may need to be extended if the heavy rain persists.
