HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Ala Moana Center will present a series of special performances and exclusive experiences from May 1-June 30 in honor of the 6th annual Mele Mei Festival. Shoppers are invited to enjoy ongoing entertainment at Center Stage and the new Ewa Wing Stage, as well as an exclusive exhibit honoring the Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar.
The exclusive exhibit was recently on display at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, California and is officially returning home to Hawaii. This exclusive collection honoring the Hawaiian slack key tradition will be on display at Ala Moana Center in the Mauka Wing (May 1-June 30) with additional pieces on display inside Bloomingdale's (May 1-May 25).
For a limited time, shoppers will have a unique opportunity to explore artifacts and historical instruments that trace the history of one of the greatest acoustic guitar traditions in the world. Admission to the exhibit is complimentary.
During the month of May, Ala Moana Center will feature Hawai?i's top artists every Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m.-5:45 p.m. on the new Ewa Wing Stage. Featured artists will include Kamakakehau Fernandez, Kekoa Kane, Mahi?ai Kekumu and GJ, Pu?uloa and Pomaika?i Lyman.
