KAPOLEI, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Kapolei High School counselor has been arrested on suspicion of soliciting a minor for prostitution.
Kendrick Padilla, 39, was arrested Tuesday afternoon at the school, police said.
Padilla has been a guidance counselor for juniors and seniors at the school for the past seven years.
Following his arrest, the state Department of Education reassigned Padilla to another position on campus in which he will not work directly with students.
Hawaii News Now asked if school officials also plan to notify parents about the arrest, and the DOE issued the following statement:
"A letter to parents is normally sent home for situations that affect the entire school community. HPD's investigation is still in-progress, so an immediate letter is not warranted at this time."
Police would not provide any additional details about the victim or the case.
