WAHIAWA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Honolulu police are investigating a drive-by shooting in Wahiawa early Monday morning.

Around 3 a.m., someone fired several rounds into a Toyota Tacoma truck on Thomas Street. Surrounding neighbors heard the gunfire.

The truck's owner said his 26-year-old son operates the vehicle but he has no idea why anyone would be shooting at the truck.

Police recovered six cases from a 9 mm gun.

Surveillance footage captured a vehicle driving around the neighborhood at the time starting around 2:45 a.m. and then leading up to the shooting around 3:08 a.m.

The vehicle appears to have a distinctive sloping back window, similar to some kind of a sports coupe.

Police have opened a reckless endangerment case.

Anyone with information on the crime, or the suspicious vehicle are asked to call police.
