Forecast: Approaching front could bring some showers

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Breezy tradewinds will persist through Wednesday with passing showers favoring windward areas, occasionally drifting over leeward sides.

An approaching front is forecast to start pulling up variable / southerly winds Thursday and Friday as well as inducing afternoon clouds and showers. Isolated heavy downpours are possible with the light winds. Brisk tradewinds will return on Saturday.

A new, small, longer period west-northwest swell is expected to arrive Wednesday and linger through Saturday. A fun sized boost has picked up along south shores. Another slightly larger south swell is forecast to arrive Friday and continue through the weekend. Trade winds will produce choppy short period surf along east facing shores through midweek.

Small Craft Advisory until 6 PM Tuesday for Kaiwi Channel, Maalaea Bay, Pailolo channel, Alenuihaha channel, Big Island leeward waters, Big Island southeast waters.
