HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Nice steady tradewinds will run through Wednesday. Rainfall will favor windward and mauka areas, falling mainly in the overnight and early morning hours with light to moderate rainfall totals. An approaching front is expected to kick out the trades Thursday with variable winds taking over through Friday. At the time haze and vog buildups are possible with higher humdity levels and afternoon interior showers.
A new, small, longer period west-northwest swell is expected to arrive Wednesday and linger through Saturday. A fun sized boost has picked up along south shores. Another slightly larger south swell is forecast to arrive Friday and continue through the weekend. Trade winds will produce choppy short period surf along east facing shores through midweek.
Small Craft Advisory until 6 PM Tuesday for Kaiwi Channel, Maalaea Bay, Pailolo channel, Alenuihaha channel, Big Island leeward waters, Big Island southeast waters.
