HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - While the Manoa Heritage Center is celebrating its 20th year anniversary, it has also just hired an executive director for the first time. Jessica Welch, formerly of the Honolulu Museum of Art, has joined the team as it converts a historic home, visitor center and heiau into a museum.
Sam and Mary Cooke own the estate that is located in Manoa as a place to learn about cultural and natural heritage. It has a 1911 Tudor style home that they renovated. The house and the heiau are listed on the National Register of Historic Places and hosts tours particularly for schools.
