Kauai police arrested two wanted men in separate incidents on this week. Officers seized cocaine, methamphetamine and other drugs in one of the arrests.

On Monday, police located Nicholas McPeek, age 24, of Hanalei, who was wanted on a no-bail warrant for violating his parole. McPeek was arrested in Lihue without incident and transported to the Kauai Community Correctional Center.

On Wednesday, officers observed Mark Christian driving a vehicle on Kuhio Highway, fronting the old Hanamaulu Cafe. The 49-year-old Lihue man was wanted on a grand jury bench warrant for multiple drug offenses.

Upon locating him, patrol officers stopped the vehicle and arrested Christian without incident on multiple offenses relating to promoting a dangerous drug and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

Following the arrest, police executed a search warrant on Christian’s vehicle where they seized 3.7 grams of cocaine, 1.2 grams of methamphetamine, 12.4 grams of marijuana, 59 Schedule II drugs, two Schedule III drugs, and 21 Schedule IV drugs, as classified by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

With the added drug charges, Christian’s total bail was set at $114,000. He was arraigned in Circuit Court on Thursday.

“The Kauai Police Department is committed to fighting the war against drugs on all fronts to keep our community resistant to the fear of crime,” stated Police Chief Darryl Perry. “Every arrest and confiscation of illegal drugs makes our streets safer for our families. I commend our officers for their vigorous pursuit of all those involved in the possession or distribution of illegal drugs.”
