Forecast: Breezy trade winds will linger through the day

A strong high pressure ridge north of the islands will keep trade winds locally breezy today and tonight.

Trades will weaken slightly on Saturday as a weak front passes far north of the state. A new high will strengthen the trades once again late Sunday.

Showers will fall primarily nights and mornings over windward slopes with a few spilling over to leeward neighborhoods. Wetter trades are expected the middle of next week.

Small swells from the northwest will continue through the weekend. Surf along south facing shores should increase somewhat during the weekend and into early next week as a swell from east of New Zealand reaches the islands. East side surf will be up and down with the trade winds.

Small Craft Advisory until 6 a.m. Saturday for Maalaea Bay, Pailolo channel, Alenuihaha channel, Big Island leeward waters.
