All lanes of Nimitz Highway near Sand Island have been reopened Thursday morning after a vehicle accident blocked the area for almost two hours during the morning commute.
The accident happened around 6:45 a.m., closing two eastbound lanes and causing a major traffic jam on the airport viaduct.
Emergency Medical Services said a man in his 50s suffered some sort of medical emergency and was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
