KAILUA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Authorities will be testing new sirens in Windward Oahu on Thursday as part of the statewide siren modernization project by the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency and City and County of Honolulu Department of Emergency Management.

The sirens will sound from Kailua District Park, Kualoa Regional Park and Kokololio Beach Park anywhere between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Residents may hear the siren sound about six to eight times for 30-second to one-minute intervals. Testing will also include short blasts or “burps.”
