KO OLINA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Residents and local businesses in the Ko Olina area are being asked to conserve water after a 20-inch force main ruptured at the West Beach Wastewater Pump Station, officials said.
Officials said a pipe at the pump station broke sometime Wednesday afternoon, but they did not specify what time. The state Department of Health said the estimated spill is about 1,000 gallons, but it did not reach state waters.
A private contractor has been called to make the necessary repairs.
ENV crews are collecting as much of the spill upstream and redistributing it downstream.
Meanwhile, the water conservation request covers minimizing the use of toilets, sinks, dishwashers, washing machines and showers.
