Forecast: Tradewinds to pick up Wednesday

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Easterly tradewinds will speed up Wednesday to 15-25mph, backing down slightly on Thursday. Rainfall will favor windward neighborhoods, falling mainly in the overnight and early morning hours. Leeward sides will get only isolated showers with abundant afternoon sunshine.

A solid north west boost will peak Wednesday with wave heights just below advisory levels. A small pulse is due for south shores as well. Breezy trade winds will produce elevated rough surf along east facing shores.

Small Craft Advisory until 6 am Wednesday for Maalaea Bay, Pailolo channel, Alenuihaha channel, Big Island leeward waters, Big Island southeast waters.
