Forecast: Breezy trade winds will prevail

Locally breezy trade winds will prevail through early next week, as a couple of high pressure systems pass north of the islands.

The trades will bring areas of clouds and showers to the state, mainly windward areas, mainly nights and mornings. Leeward neighborhoods may see occasional periods of cloudiness, but little rainfall is expected.

High today in Honolulu will be 84 degrees.

Surf is dropping a notch out in the country today, but then holding for another day or two. The National Weather Service forecast calls for 8-12 feet north, 5-8 feet west, 3-5 feet east, 1-3 feet south. A small south-side bump is expected tomorrow and Saturday.

Small Craft Advisory for channel waters east of Molokai and coastal waters west and south of the Big Island.
