Lockdown lifted at 4 Oahu schools

EWA BEACH, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Four schools in the Ewa Beach area were briefly on lockdown Tuesday following reports of a man nearby with a handgun.

Police said the man was taken into custody and taken to a hospital for mental evaluation. 

The following schools were locked down around 9:40 a.m.:

  • Campbell High School 
  • Ilima Interrmediate 
  • Kaimiloa Elementary 
  • Pohakea Elementary 

The lockdown was lifted at 10:15 a.m.

The man was found in an Ewa Beach neighborhood and taken to the hospital for mental evaluation, a Honolulu Police spokesperson says. 

No injuries are reported.
