KONA, HAWAII (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 22-year-old man died in a single-motorcycle crash Sunday morning in Kona, Big Island police said.
The victim has been identified as Jonathan Salinas, of Kailua-Kona.
Police said Salinas was traveling south on Mamalahoa Highway near the 22-mile marker around 9:45 a.m. when he failed to make a turn into the roadway, causing him to run off onto the east shoulder and into a rock embankment.
He was taken to the Kona Community Hospital with head injuries, where he was later pronounced dead.
An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.
