KIHEI, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Maui firefighters on Sunday responded to a boat that ran aground near Makena State Park.
Firefighters found the 19-foot motor boat around 6:20 p.m., washed up on the rocky point between Big Beach and Little Beach.
According to the Maui Fire Department, the boat's operator apparently anchored the boat offshore of Little Beach and swam ashore to meet friends. At some point, the boat drifted toward some rocks and ran aground.
The boat's operator was uninjured.
The state Department of Land and Natural Resources said there was no evidence of a fuel leak.
