HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - In each of her first two appearances at the LPGA's Lotte Championship at Ko Olina, former Punahou School golfer Stephanie Kono failed to make the cut and advance to the third round.
Having done so for the first time on Thursday after a one-under 71, Kono instead failed to make the most of a Friday opportunity.
Kono shot a 4-over 76 in the third round of the Lotte Championship on Friday, bogeying as many holes in the third round (5) as she did in the first two rounds combined.
"I hit a couple of loose shots today, and I need to tighten that up," said Kono, after her round. ""I hit a lot of good putts, but they just didn't go in today. I'm just gonna trust that my feel is still there, and hopefully they'll go in tomorrow."
The 4-over 76 puts Kono at +3 for the tournament.
Playing in the final pairing of the day, Katie Burnett shot a bogey-free five-under to move to -13 for the tournament, a stroke ahead of Su-Yeon Jang and three better than In Gee Chun and Moriya Jutanugarn.
Kono will return to the course on Saturday for the final round of this year's Lotte Championship.
