High Surf Advisory in effect for east-facing shores

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - An elevated wind swell is rolling into east-facing shores of the Hawaiian islands, prompting a High Surf Advisory, according to the National Weather Service.

The advisory, issued for east-facing shores of all islands except Lanai and Niihau, is in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday.

Surf is expected to rise to 5 to 8 feet, forecasters said.

Beachgoers should anticipate strong breaking waves, shore break and strong currents, making swimming difficult and dangerous.
