Downed power line sparks Kapolei brush fire

KAPOLEI, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

A downed power line in Kapolei sparked a brush fire that took more than three hours to extinguish.

The blaze was reported about 1:38 p.m. near the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and Boxer Road.

Some 15 firefighters battled the brush fire, which forced officials to close Roosevelt Avenue for several hours.

The fire was brought under control by 2:04 p.m., but wasn't extinguished until 4:45 p.m.

The fire burned about two acres. No injuries were reported and no structures were damaged.
