HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Western U.S. Agricultural Trade Association completes a trade mission to Vietnam. Hawaii Board of Ag Chairman Scott Enright, a association treasurer, was among those on the trip, and flew back over the weekend. Vietnam is a nation of 92 million people, and is America's 11th biggest trading partner.

The organizers of the Hawaii Book & Music Festival says there will be 600 participants this year – authors, publishers, musicians – six stages on the grounds of Honolulu Hale – the weekend of April 30 and May 1.

One week from today Hawaii Pacific University has a free lecture on emerging technologies and energy policy. David Berube of NC State will speak on science communication, April 18, 5:30 p.m., at Aloha Tower Marketplace. Free admission and you don't have to be a student.

Did you see the first quarter drug testing results from Diagnostic Lab Services? Cocaine use fell but marijuana use rose from 2.3 to 2.4 percent of all tests. Meth use is well under 1%, at least among drug tests given to job applicants and workers in sensitive jobs.

Kona Coffee Purveyers has signed a deal to bring San Francisco's B. Patisserie to Hawaii. Chef-owner Belinda Leong says she and the coffee company will unit in the new International Marketplace in Waikiki.
