LIHUE, KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Kaua'i police are searching for the driver of a dark-colored pickup truck that was involved in a hit-and-run crash Saturday night in Lihu'e, which resulted in a pedestrian fatality.
The victim was 48-year-old Eric Shorr of Wailua. Police say Shorr was arrested just hours before he was killed.
The Garden Island reports that Eric Schorr, was booked for disorderly conduct, Saturday night. Schorr had allegedly been drinking.
According to a preliminary investigation, the Schorr was walking on Kapule Highway at approximately 10:30 p.m. when he was struck by the pickup truck. He was transported to Wilcox Hospital where he later died.
Kapule Highway was closed in both directions, from approximately 10:30 p.m. to 2 a.m., to allow KPD's Traffic Safety Section to conduct an on-scene investigation.
The crash remains under police investigation.
