A broken hydrant led to a traffic headache in Kahala Saturday afternoon.
After the hydrant busted along Kahala Avenue around 4:30 p.m. an underground line to it burst, causing a gaping hole and large cracks on the road.
The damage was so severe, Board of Water Supply crews shut down all lanes of Kahale Ave. from Pueo Street to Koloa Street.
Repair work is scheduled overnight.
The broken line did not cause any homes to lose water service.
In order to make repairs to the broken line, an adjacent eight-inch water main is shut down; the adjacent line shutdown will force eight homes to be without water.
