'Bows reserve Jovanovich to transfer from Hawaii basketball program

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - University of Hawaii junior center Stefan Jovanovich is transferring away from the Rainbow Warrior basketball team, head coach Eran Ganot told Hawaii News Now on Saturday.

Jovanovich, a reserve who played mostly in relief of Stefan Jankovic, averaged 4.9 points and 4 rebounds  per game for the 'Bows this season. An athletic department spokesperson says Jovanovich plans to play at Loyola Marymount next season.

With the announcement, all four of the team's junior players have decided whether to stay with the team or depart and avoid the sanctions that were imposed on the program by the NCAA last December.

Jankovic and swingman Aaron Valdes both intend to hire agents and pursue professional careers. Forward Michael Thomas took to Twiitter on Friday to announce that he planned to remain with the program.

Reserve guard Niko Filipovich, a sophomore who appeared in 22 games this season, also plans to leave the program, an athletic department spokesperson said.
