Shortly before 8 o’clock Friday evening Honolulu police say an elderly woman was hit by a car while crossing the street near Diamond Head Theatre and died from her injuries.
The 73-year-old Honolulu woman was not in a marked crosswalk at the time of the incident. The woman suffered head and internal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 41-year-old Honolulu male was heading south on Makapuu Avenue when he struck the woman.
Police say speed, alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash.
This case is the 11 fatality of 2016 compared to 14 this time last year.
