HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

A High Surf Advisory has been issued until 6 a.m. Monday for the north and west shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu and Molokai, and the north shores of Maui, as a new northwest swell arrives in the islands.

Surf along north-facing shores is expected to rise to 15 to 20 feet by Sunday, with 10 to 15 foot waves for west facing shores.

Expect strong breaking waves, shore break, and strong longshore and rip currents that will make swimming difficult and dangerous. Beachgoers, swimmers and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.
