Forecast: New northwest swell may trigger advisory

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Steady tradewinds will continue for the weekend with scattered windward showers and mostly dry conditions for leeward sides. Stronger tradewinds are due back on Monday, expected to hold for most of next week..

Surf will be small island wide for Saturday. There is a good chance the new northwest swell arriving late Saturday night will warrant a high surf advisory for the north and or west facing shores. This swell will be followed by a reinforcing northwest swell of about similar size late Monday night.

Small Craft Advisory for Alenuihaha Channel and coastal waters south and west of the Big Island.
