WAHIAWA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Honolulu police say a driver fled the scene after crashing a SUV in Wahiawa around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday.

The driver appears to have swerved across the opposite lane of traffic on California Avenue near Plum Street and slammed into a rock wall fronting the Wahiawa Hongwanji Mission parking lot, then careened into a fire hydrant on the other side of Plum Street, sheering it from its base.

Board of Water Supply crews responded to shut off the water flow.

The incident happened right near a city bus stop, but there were no initial reports that anyone was there at the time of the crash.

No injuries were reported, but police are looking for information of the driver who fled.

The vehicle had not been reported stolen.

It's unclear how much the wall will cost to repair and who owns it.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
