PALOLO, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Police are searching for the suspects involved in an armed robbery at Palolo convenience store Friday afternoon.

The robbery happened at the New Valley Store off Kauhana Street about 12:30 p.m.

Police said the store's owner, one other employee and a few customers were inside at the time of the robbery.

Witnesses said five men entered the store, flashed a possible handgun and shotgun then demanded money. They fled with an undisclosed amount in a dark pick-up truck.

This is the same store where a man was murdered June 2015. Rimoni Pologa was shopping at the store when a man arrived to rob the shopkeeper. Pologa intervened and was shot several times. He died later at the hospital.

A few weeks after the shooting, this same store was raided by police for reports of illegal gambling. In August, police seized nine gambling machines.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call police.
