WAILUA, Maui (HawaiiNewsNow) - Maui firefighters battled a brush fire Thursday morning in Wailua.
According to the Maui Fire Department, the fire broke out around 9:30 a.m. near Hana Highway, between mile markers 20 and 21.
The fire department said it had to use a helicopter to make water drops because the fire crept up a steep embankment on the mauka side of the road, making it difficult for crews to access it.
The fire was extinguished by 11:40 a.m.
There were no reports of damage or injuries.
The cause is under investigation.
