Forecast: Trade winds will offer some relief this weekend

Trade winds will gradually strengthen through the rest of the weekend as a surface high passes far north of the islands.

The moderate trade winds will deliver a few windward showers mainly during nights and mornings. Winds are expected to weaken Monday as another front approaches the state from the northwest. Breezy trade winds are expected to return across the area behind the front by the middle of next week.

The current country swell has subsided and the High Surf Advisory has been canceled.

A small north to northwest swell is expected Sunday through Monday. Moderate trades returning over the weekend will generate choppy surf along the east facing shores. A series of small background south-southwest swell will generate small surf along south facing shores through the weekend.

No marine or weather advisories are posted.
