A former Sea Life Park cashier has been sentenced to 10 years behind bars for stealing nearly $150,000 from July 2011 to December 2012.
Maricris Espiritu was also ordered to pay $147,500 in restitution.
Espiritu manned the cash register at Sea Life Park, where guests were offered a $50 photo package of themselves swimming with dolphins, city Prosecutor Keith Kaneshiro said, in a news release. When Espiritu rang people up, she would generate a duplicate receipt for guests and pocket the cash.
Sea Life Park noticed the discrepancies when Esperitu worked and when she was off, and the park was able to catch her stealing.
