No tsunami threat after 3.8-magnitude quake shakes Big Island

PAHALA, HAWAII (HawaiiNewsNow) - A magnitude 3.8 earthquake shook parts of the Big Island on Wednesday, but was not strong enough to generate a tsunami threat, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.

The earthquake struck about 22 miles southeast of Pahala around 3:10 a.m. HST.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

PTWC officials said it was not connected to a recent quake off Maui on Monday.
