NORTH SHORE, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A large northwest swell is gradually diminishing, but dangerously large surf continues to roll into Hawaii shores.
A High Surf Warning has been canceled, but a High Surf Advisory is in effect for north- and west-facing shores of Kauai, Niihau, Oahu and Molokai; north-facing shores of Maui; and west-facing shores of the Big Island. The advisory is in effect until 6 a.m. Friday.
Surf along north and west shores -- of Kauai and Niihau –- and north shores –- of Oahu, Molokai and Maui -- will build to 16 to 22 feet Thursday. Surf along west-facing shores of Oahu and Molokai will build to 10 to 15 feet. Meanwhile, west-facing shores of the Big Island will see 8- to 12-foot surf.
Expect large breaking surf, significant shorebreak and dangerous currents.
