Kuana Torres Kahele is getting ready for the Merrie Monarch Festival.  He posted this video on Facebook two days ago with the caption "Sunday afternoon rehearsal for this year's Merrie Monarch hula festival."

The Merrie Monarch Festival is next week and will be broadcast on K5 The Home Team and will be streamed live.

For you fans....2016 Merrie Monarch fans have arrived for our booth at the civic.  We ordered 10,000 this year so everyone can be a fan.  We start giving them out next week during the festival.... in the meantime, you-know-who is guarding our stash! Don't try to sneak any early."  I actually thought those were CD's or DVD's, but I believe those are "fans for the fans", which is so necessary when you're in Hilo

Melveen Leed wowed folks in her two shows she performed last night at the Blue Note Hawaii at the Outrigger Waikiki Hotel.  Melveen sang mostly jazz standards but did thrill the audience with two Hanahou songs, including an amazing rendition of Hi'ilawe
Punahou Graduate and new talent Booker for the Bluenote is Suzanne Koga of S. Koga Entertainment, responsible for bringing old friend, Melveen, in on this gig.  Koga also served as the Personal Manager for Roberta Flack for 26 years.

We showed a funny photo from Hawaiian musician Amy Hanaialii; she posted it on Facebook with the caption "Sometimes I really can relate to these characters. Lol."

Was taking selfie with friends when I hear a yell and someone says "Hey me too!"  This is Hawaii News Now Sports Reporter Taryn Hatcher who ran over, but as soon as I brought up the camera, then her hands came up.  I joked that she runs thru the park like that too....love you Taryn!!
