Entertainment: Hawaii Recording Artist Cyril Pahinui Hospitalized

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Lifetime Achievement Award winner and Hawaii recording artist Cyril Pahinui remains hospitalized Tuesday morning at the Queen's Medical Center.

Cyril is not only a member of the famed Pahinui family, he is also a veteran of the Vietnam War serving on the front lines where he was exposed to several chemicals that impacted his lungs and heart for many years, according to his family. Despite these conditions, Cyril came home from the war and has entertained around the world for years.

His condition has worsened recently to where Cyril's right lung has collapsed and the lining filled with fluids. Cyril was admitted to the hospital and after what his Facebook page calls "pretty aggressive medical procedures to hopefully resolve the condition; after consultation with his doctors he will undergo lung surgery today." According to his Facebook page, his family and wife, Chelle, said it's a very risky procedure.

Lots of people have been asking if they can come by and bring lei and flowers, but they can't have it in ICU and the pollen will not be good for Cyril at this time.

So in classic Cyril fashion, he's asking everyone to head over to gabbypahinui.com and purchase a Gabby Pahinui Kanikapila t-shirt.

The Gabby Pahinui Waimanalo Kanikapila is April 23, 2016, which will also be Cyril and Gabby's birthday celebration.
