HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A former adult daycare worker has been charged with physically abusing two mentally disabled people in June 2014.
Lawrence Miguel was a staff member at Responsive Caregivers of Hawaii, officials said.
He allegedly bent a victim's wrist backwards before grabbing him by the shirt and forcing him into the wall.
The second victim was allegedly forced to the ground, straddled and choked for removing a sandwich from a locker.
State Attorney General Doug Chin said Miguel was supposed to be helping people "not hurt them. The department will prosecute anyone who takes advantage of his position to harm those in need of our assistance."
The charges are misdemeanors. If convicted, Miguel faces up to a year in jail.
