HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Jay Shidler's Pacific Office Properties, owner of Davies Pacific Center and Waterfront Plaza, tells the SEC it has debt coming due this year which exceeds available cash. The filing is an official notice and sounds alarming, but actually there is a plan to refinance debt at lower rates when the due date is nearer.

Unemployment is down another tick, but where is the hiring? The newest report says leisure and hospitality saw 13 hundred more jobs just in January, and almost that many new jobs in trade, transportation and utilities, which includes airlines and tour buses. Construction hired 600.

The Hawaii Tourism Authority is putting its Japan marketing contract out to be – the current contract ends this year – and HTA is breaking up marketing for North America into U.S. and Canada.

Hawaii Island Adult Care is launching a $7 million capital campaign to replace its operation in the old Hilo Memorial Hospital with a new building in the Moho'uli Heights Senior Neighborhood housing project site.

Hawaiian Aroma Caffe opens in the Outrigger-managed Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel. It's the company second Waikiki location and there's another on Bishop Street downtown. The roasting is done in Kapolei. Hawaiian Aroma does more robust flavors than the big chains, and also has a Nutella Latte.
