HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Those breezy winds are leaving us, but just for a couple days.
Winds are light easterlies in advance of an approaching cold front. That front will be crossing the islands late Tuesday and Wednesday with just brief showers. The breezy and cool north winds will then return for the second half of the work week.
Passing showers and cloud cover this morning with mostly sunny skies expected leeward this afternoon.
High in Honolulu will be a warm 83 degrees. Without the winds, it will be a bit sticky after lunchtime.
Surf is moderate all around. Conditions should improve with the lighter winds. The National Weather Service forecast calls for 8-12 feet north, 5-8 feet west, 4-7 feet east, 0-2 feet south. A new, moderate to large north swell is possible late Wednesday through Sunday.
Small Craft Advisory for Kaiwi and Alenuihaha channels, coastal waters windward of Oahu and Maui County as well as coastal waters all around the Big Island.
