Winds will lighten up Monday ahead of an approaching cold front. Leeward areas will be mostly sunny, but windward and mountain areas will be partly to mostly cloudy with light scattered showers. Those showers could increase later in the day as the front gets closer.

The front will bring a few showers with it as it moves through the islands late Tuesday into early Wednesday, but they shouldn't be heavy. Another surge of cool temperatures and breezy north winds will follow immediately after the front. More typical trade wind weather should return for the second half of the week.

A High Surf Advisory will remain in effect until 6 a.m. for north and west shores of Kauai and Niihau, and the north shores of most of the remaining islands for a declining north-northwest swell. A Small Craft Advisory is also up for Hawaiian waters from Oahu to the Big Island due to the swell.
