HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Four months after they were rescued from squalid conditions, a dozen dogs are ready to be adopted.
The Hawaiian Humane Society took the dogs out of a Haleiwa home in late October. They've since been nursed back to full health, but it took a judge to pave the way to be adopted.
"We bring them into the shelter and make sure they get the proper care," Harold Han of the Hawaiian Humane Society said. "The doctor looks at them. It's been a long process. A judge recently awarded us ownership via a forfeiture hearing in January of this year. We're excited that we were able to get them up for adoption."
The 12 dogs will be available for adoption beginning Saturday at Petco on Beretania Street with prices starting at $75.
