Forecast: Windy conditions could last through the weekend

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

It is all about the wind and will be for a while, perhaps through the weekend.

Winds today will be northerly 15-30 mph with gusts to 45 mph in most neighborhoods, stronger on Lanai and the Big Island. Just a few lingering showers. Partly sunny skies are forecast for all islands. High in Honolulu will be a cool 78 or 79 degrees.

The National Weather Service surf forecast calls for 12-18 feet north, 8-12 feet west, 4-7 feet south, 3-6 east.

High Surf Advisory for north and west shores of Niihau, Kauai as well as north shores of Oahu, Molokai, Maui.

Small Craft Advisory for all Hawaii waters.

Gale Warning for Maalaea Harbor, Pailolo and Alenuihaha Channels, Coastal waters west and south of Hawaii Island.

High Wind Warning for Big Island summits. Winds will gust to 75 mph.

Wind Advisory for the rest of the Big Island, Lanai, Kahoolawe with wind gusts to 50 mph.
