HILO, HAWAII (HawaiiNewsNow) - Police on the Big Island have identified the remains found in a river as a woman who went missing while swimming in the area late last year.
Police say Jolee Reiswig, 62, was identified through dental records. Her remains were discovered in a tide pool of the Wailuku River on Feb. 14.
Last September, Reiswig and a friend were swimming in a scenic, but off-limits area know as Boiling Pots in the Wailuku River State Park. They were swept through the rapids after a Flash Flood Warning was issued for the region.
The man she was with managed to swim away to safety, but Reiswig was not found.
